Copywriting for Alternative Healers, Spiritual Entrepreneurs

My copywriting business, The Detail Conductor, specializes in writing services that support alternative healers, spiritual entrepreneurs and those who serve the open-minded. Why? Because of the experience I’ve had with my healing.

A Singer without a Voice

In the winter of 1993 I was working hard on my vocal skills, taking singing and piano lessons and practicing every day. In my mid-20s, I had decided to be a singer by trade and nothing got in the way of my practice…until a bad cold did.

Your common cold doesn’t usually cause the complete loss of your voice, but this cold did. I couldn’t even talk, much less sing. I did everything you’re supposed to do for a cold and a little over a week later, it went away and I got back to singing.

A month later the same thing happened: a week of cold symptoms accompanied by laryngitis. The month after that, it happened again. I was distraught. I needed to practice, plus I had regular rehearsals and performances. Of course, the regular doctor I saw had no advice besides the usual tips on avoiding colds, and he had no idea what to do about recurring laryngitis.

An ex-boyfriend swore homeopathy could fix anything, so I did some research and made an appointment. I couldn’t have a singing voice only 75% of the time! Sure enough, the homeopath did a thorough examination, prescribed a remedy called natrum muriaticum, and after taking it for some weeks, the colds stopped. Relieved, I returned to having working vocal chords every week.

I suppose I have that ex-boyfriend, Brij Kothari, to thank for getting me off the beaten path of Western allopathic medicine.

From Door to Door with a Mystery

A year later it was a rash that regular doctors couldn’t diagnose. Frustratingly, this time homeopathy didn’t have what I needed. Slowly, the horribly itchy rash spread over my hands, arms, legs, and eventually my face. Acupuncture caused no change. After months of agony, I finally ended up in the office of a chiropractor who used applied kinesiology to diagnose. He determined that I was suffering from an overgrowth of Candida albicans. I was lucky enough to be in the office of Dr. Jeffrey McCombs, who had recently developed his now-established treatment plan for Candida.

Dr. McCombs’ plan started to lessen my symptoms within a week, so I stuck with it for the six months it took to get back to health. This experience solidified for me that if regular doctors can’t solve a health problem, I must look among the off-the-beaten-path modalities until I find what I need.

Major Depression Can Be Healed

Over the decades, my health problems have taken me on quite an odyssey, but I’ve had success with treatments I’ve received from acupuncturists, Chinese herbalists, other chiropractors, Emotional Freedom Technique therapists, an Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing practitioner, a neurolinguistic programming practitioner, hypnotherapists, spiritual healers, shamans, a Nutrition Response Testing (NRT) practitioner, and more.

In fact, after a lifetime of chronic depression, four years of treatment from an NRT practitioner improved my depression so much that I no longer need medication. When my depression symptoms come back, they don’t last very long and don’t get anywhere near as bleak as they used to.

Making the Esoteric Clearer

Such lesser-known healing practices are mostly overlooked by most Americans, so I’m passionate about spreading the word. I sometimes look at the website of an alternative therapist or practitioner and think, “This description of services could be so much clearer. I could totally help them make their services sound like how-can-you-possibly-live-without-this?” Or I’ll see an About page that could give prospects an understanding of why this healer is the one for YOU, but the words don’t quite do it.

I love writing and I love making it as gripping as possible. I also enjoy making challenging concepts easy to understand. And what I like best is to focus on the healers who could help so many more people if people only understood how they would benefit.

Healers tend to be brilliant at what they do. Their gifts can seem miraculous, but getting that onto the page or onto a website doesn’t always happen. I love making that happen. I live to make connections, including the connection between a healer doing their life’s work and the person who badly needs that healing.

The Alternative and Spiritual Are Powerful

Almost thirty years after I entered that first homeopath’s office, I know alternative practitioners and spiritual entrepreneurs are where much of the hope lies for helping us thrive. They’re likely the only ones who can remove the huge toxin and poison loads many of us carry at this point.

I have great gratitude and respect for how they’ve helped me with my health, and that’s why I want to help them heal as many people as possible. And maybe I had to go through singing and many other vocations first, but now I know my best thing is my writing.
