I don’t know why they call it “deodorant” and not “anti-perspirant, but Lumē does it all. I’m not turning this blog into a bunch of commercials, so I’m not including any links. You can Google this stuff yourself, but I am impressed.
At the height of summer, with a tendency to perspire that I challenge anyone to rival, I am very grateful to have found a way to stop odor, if not the perspiration itself. And no aluminum! I try to avoid rubbing poison onto myself, so I’m glad I found Lumē.
You have to apply it to completely clean skin, freshly showered/bathed because it works by stopping bacteria build-up. If you’re already sweating, don’t bother putting it on.
Lumē goddamn works. I no longer have to worry about disturbing the noses of others, even on these sticky, Chicago, July days. I’ve been using the unscented kind and this is what I’m going to use from now on, at least at the height of summer.
A few drawbacks:
- You have to make peace with the smell of the deodorant itself. It comes in cream and stick. I’m using the unscented stick and it has a strangely flat, waxy smell. Not pleasant, but better than B.O. It comes in different scents, so find the one that works for your body chemistry.
- It costs a lot of money. At Target, a stick is almost $18, not including tax. You can also get it online, but then you pay for shipping. But for me it’s worth it.
- UDPATE: Since I first posted this, I’ve found that the citrus scent works great for me, the lavender does not. I’m sure it depends on body chemistry, but I can’t recommend the lavender.
So there it is: if you’re a sweat-monster like me, my recommendation for the summer is to find the Lumē scent and form that works for you. Yes, I’ll pay $18 for my next stick, gladly.
I just got a trial size in, tangerine scent, which I found at Target. If it’s good for 72 hours than $18 isn’t bad at all.
Good!
Thank you for the personal review. I will pick some up at Target soon.
Texas summers are the WORST.
You’re welcome.
