Have you heard of Medium.com? It’s a publishing platform that offers a collection of amateur and professional writers and publications. It’s regarded as a blog host.
On March 20th I decided to become a Medium writer because they pay their writers, depending on the size of their readership. A friend of mine and I are running this experiment together: for 60 days we are each posting five articles on Medium.com, with a minimum of 300 words per article. Actually, Medium.com calls them stories, not articles.
In June Chicana on the Edge will be 16 years old and for most of that time I’ve wanted to monetize it, but haven’t figured out how. Google ads didn’t work. Patreon.com didn’t work. Maybe the answer is to build a readership on a platform that pays writers.
I’ll still blog stuff here that I won’t post on Medium.com, but if you’re interested, I invite you to check out my stories on Medium because I’m also posting content there that I’m not putting here. Yeah, my capacity for churning out writing about what I’m thinking about is that big, and I already have six Medium stories published.
And if you read my stories there, please clap for them, At the bottom of each story is an icon of a pair of hands clapping. You can hold it down and clap up to 50 times for a story!
Medium.com is a subscription service, but you can access five stories a month for free. For unlimited access, it’s $5 a month.
