Jane Sun of Sunnyvale, CA asked me for a list of things that cost $3, so here goes.
Jane, I’ve modified your request so it’s about Chicago-specific things you can buy for $3. Obviously you can get a Starbucks cup of regular drip coffee for $3, etc.

Things you can get in Chicago for $3.00 (or less)
- One round trip on a Chicago Transit Authority bus or train, including one transfer.
- One can of Pabst Blue Ribbon beer at the Rogers Park bar down the street from me (excluding the tip).
- Two copies of The Chicago Tribune.
- One small bag of buttery or plain Garrett’s popcorn.
- One and a half hours of metered parking outside the downtown area.
- A little less than a half hour of metered parking in the downtown area.
- One specialty donut from Stan’s Donuts (mmm…Stan’s Donuts…)
- Admission to the Field Museum for families that show an EBT card (electronic food stamps)
- On free days you can get into the Adler Planetarium, Museum of Science and Industry, the Art Institute, Brookfield Zoo, the Field Museum and more for nothing, and buy a $3 cup of coffee when you get inside!
Jane, yes I guess it is, although my favorite one is Stan's Donuts. They're good.
The best deal is the last one!
